In an effort to keep this space clear of politics and political discussion…

…in an effort to encourage you to think about and maybe even respond to what you read here, thus sparking a blog discussion of more important and lasting spiritual matters, I offer the following:
Let’s talk about the One Thing Needful, the most important knowledge anyone can attain, namely, the Gospel of Jesus as the only way to heaven! Here are some thoughts on philosophy of ministry. Do you agree, disagree, or seek to tweak? Let me know.
Two key Scriptures that frame these thoughts:
“I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.” (Romans 1:16)
I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some. I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings. (1 Corinthians 9:22b,23)

Worship time change: The Board of Elders recently met and approved a Sunday worship time change in order to accommodate Sunday School and Bible Class. Monday evening worship stays the same at 6:30 p.m.
On Sunday, we will move worship times to 8:00 & 10:30 am with Sunday School/Bible Class at 9:15 a.m. We'll maintain this through the end of the year, always monitoring developments concerning COVID spread and county gathering guidelines. This schedule will begin this weekend, October 4th.
Please continue to register for worship. There is always room as there is always room for overflow in the fellowship hall and Welcome Center. Registering for worship during this time is a “best practice” that helps us to worship as safely as possible. Call (715-356-2255) or email ([email protected]).

- God’s Word alone has the power to save, it is spiritual “dynamite”
- The Means of Grace – the Gospel in Word and Sacrament – are the heart of our ministry
- Do whatever it takes to reach more people with the Gospel in more ways more often, without compromising Law and Gospel
- Establish multiple points of entry to our church & school ministry in order to get the Word to more people
- Remain “confessional” (holding to the inerrant, inspired Word and the Lutheran Confessions) while seeking to reach more of our community
- Focus on ministry “toward the edge,” away from the comfortable middle (where most churchgoers reside)
- Intentional, repetitive, meaningful communication is essential
- Train and involve laity – called workers and staff cannot/should not do it all
- Personal; ministry means going to people one-on-one, not waiting for them to come to us. This is true now more than ever, with COVID-19 limiting larger gatherings and some of our tried and true outreach events (VBS, etc.)
